Office occupiers to benefit from US rent increases below global average
DTZ Research today released its first ever Global Office Review for the first half of 2013, providing an occupier outlook for 90 office markets across the US, Asia Pacific and Europe. The report revealed subdued rental growth globally in H1 2013 as the result of uncertain economic conditions, especially in China and Europe.

UGL announces intention to pursue a demerger

NEW YORK NY: DTZ announced today that it has been retained as exclusive financial advisor to raise $53 million in project finance for the redevelopment and expansion of five existing mixed-use, residential and retail properties in Tel Aviv, Israel. The project is being developed by Tel Aviv-based Concepteam S.A. The DTZ team heading the capital raise is led by Managing Director, Jeffrey Donnelly, Vice President, Marc Civitillo, and Associate Vice President, Joel Weinberg of the New York office’s Real Estate Investment Banking Services division.

Chicago, IL: DTZ announced today that it has represented Electrolux, a Swedish-based global appliance manufacturer, in a 365,000-sq ft expansion of its regional distribution center at 801 Midpoint Road (Minooka Ridge Building 2), Minooka, IL. Electrolux now occupies 965,183 sq ft - 100% of the building.

DTZ Research: Logistics occupiers in the U.S. witness cost growth amid increased occupier activity but growth remains below inflation
U.S.: DTZ today released the Global Occupancy Costs Logistics 2013 report revealing that occupiers in the U.S. will continue to witness cost growth over the forecast period. The five-year outlook is for an average increase of 1.9%, as demand continues to outpace supply in a majority of markets. Tenants in Boston will benefit from the lowest regional annual cost growth (1.6%), whilst Miami, Chicago and Houston will witness the strongest cost growth, averaging 2.2%. In Miami this will be due to strong tenant demand on the back of continued business expansion.

DTZ Research: North America – Top-ranked region moves ahead
CHICAGO: DTZ today released the DTZ “Money into Property 2013 North America” report, the first ever edition for the region. Invested stock edged down by 0.5% across North America in 2012, with U.S. down by 1% and only partly offset by 8% in both Canada and Mexico. Deleveraging continued across North America in 2012, with equity up 2% and debt down 2%. But, the repercussions of this continued deleveraging will be less severe than in Europe. Old Republic has offices throughout California, but will be relocating its San Jose location from 1900 The Alameda later this year into two floors of space. Key factors in their decision to seek a new location within the San Jose market were location, signage and building quality.

Contrasting fortunes in US and North Asia enliven flat occupier market
LONDON: DTZ, a UGL company today released its annual ‘Global Occupancy Costs - Offices’ (GOCO) survey revealing that the cost for companies to provide office space for their workers in North Asia increased by 6.3% during 2012, outstripping the global average increase of 1%. The sixteenth annual GOCO report highlights significant regional differences – while some markets saw sustained growth, others such as the US experienced weaker levels of demand due to economic and political uncertainty.
